I'm the proud owner of a 1991 Black TT with 75k on it. Bought it in 1997 with 28k from the second owner, a car collector, and it has always been garage-kept. It was stock except for a K&N air filter and Flowmaster (?) exhaust. I added a set of SSR 17" Competition six-spoke wheels and recently replaced the factory rear spoiler with a fiberglass one…otherwise it's all original, including the paint. I've done regular maintenance including full synthetic oil every 5k, and have never raced, neglected, or abused it. My Z came from the factory with the defective master cylinder, so I rebuilt it myself -- twice in the same week -- after Nissan gave me the wrong rebuild kit the first time. Also had all the injectors replaced by the dealer 4 years ago when one went bad. That's it…over 17 years of enjoyment and pride. I love this car. Unfortunately, I'm in a bit of a bind. It's got a leaky power steering hose that is rapidly getting worse, and a very minor leak from the valve cover gasket. It's a bit overdue for a new timing belt and probably needs the other belts and hoses replaced, given the age and mileage. Minor repairs, right? Well…not quite. I brought the Z with me to Hawaii ten years ago, and left all but a small collection of hand tools behind -- not to mention lots of gearhead friends with garages full of tools and toys. Can't seem to find a competent and trustworthy mechanic anywhere on the island, not even at the dealerships -- they have screwed me on practically every visit. I have the Nissan Service Manual and Body Manual, a few hand tools, no lift/ramps, and no help. I'm competent mechanically and not afraid to dive in and get bloody knuckles, but this is a daunting task given my situation. So my question to all you Z enthusiasts is…do I do the unthinkable and sell it? If the answer is YES, what is she worth? If the answer is NO, any advice or suggestion you may have for the repairs I've described above would be greatly greatly appreciated. Did I mention that I love this car? Thanks
